Mark Barrett Stewart

It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mark Barrett Stewart; beloved son, husband, and father. Born December 3rd, 1972, Mark passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of February 1st, 2025. He had been challenged with a series of health issues that he fought over the past four years. He is survived by his parents, siblings and four children.

Mark was the oldest of five children, son to Lyne and stepson to Leo Moreau. He was born in Victoria where he spent the first half of his life before moving to Duncan. In 2004 he welcomed his daughter, Mia Joyce into the world. In late 2006 he met his wife Dana and her two children Antony and Jakob. In 2010 they welcomed their youngest child Brodick into the world. Mark and Dana spent eighteen adventurous years together while raising their amazing children.

Mark was an avid mountain biker and was often found riding downhill on Mount Prevost and Mount Tzouhalem. After meeting Dana, he became interested in motorcycles and enjoyed going out for rides as well as exploring the interior of BC with his cousin Derek. His hobbies included fishing, remote controlled vehicles and his love of vintage cars.

Mark followed his Uncle Pete’s path and went to college for his ticket as an RV Technician. He worked for a few different companies over the years, his last being with Galaxy RV. He worked up until his bone marrow transplant in 2022. Mark enjoyed camping and managed to spend three weeks camping with his wife and sons last summer. He had a great love of the outdoors, and often was found exploring the logging roads with Dana and the boys.

Mark was generous with his help and time, he enjoyed supporting his parents and volunteered for many fundraising events hosted by the Lion’s Club. He attended many dart-a-thons in Victoria and played the part of dealer for numerous dry grad events. If anyone asked for his help he went above and beyond to help them. Mark was a people person, he enjoyed going out for coffee and meeting up with friends. He had a witty sense of humour, a competitive nature, a big heart, and he gave the best hugs.

There are not enough words to describe what an incredibly wonderful person he was. He was human with his own struggles and challenges. He was perfectly imperfect. Mark was devoted to his family and had a willingness to change and evolve. He will be dearly missed by many, and he will forever be with us in the smiles of his children. There is currently no set date for his celebration of life, if you are interested in attending, please leave your information with one of our family members or stop by Dana’s store in Duncan.
